Chandigarh, January 27
The UT Cadre Educational Employees’ Union, along with associated unions, held a hunger strike on Republic Day to mark protest against the non-fulfillment of their long-pending demands.
The unions are fighting for repatriation of overstayed deputationists. Giving information, Swarn Singh Kamboj, president, said the unions had decided to observe protest on all important days like Republic Day and Independence Day. The unions were also demanding regularisation of various categories, including teachers, lecturers and other contractual employees, working in various departments in Chandigarh.—TNS
