Seven months have passed after the death of 17-year-old Deepak, a resident of Sector 19, who was electrocuted after he came in contact with an electric pole on the road dividing Sectors 11 and 14 here on June 16 last year, his family is still waiting for justice.

Deepak’s father Baswa Nand said for seeking action against officials concerned, who were responsible for loose wiring of electricity pole that led to the death of his son, he met senior officials of the district administration, police station and even Municipal Corporation, but no action has been taken against them to date.

Now the family, which had already written letters to the Deputy Commissioner, local MLA and the Chief Minister, has moved court.

Even several months after the incident, the MC has not taken any action against loose and naked electricity wires across the city.

Bhaskar Nailwal, a resident of Sector 19 and a relative of the family, said he, along with the family, went to meet police officials on several occasions, but instead of extending support they kept the family waiting for hours. The MC should also cover these naked wires so that such tragedy should not happen with any other family.

Kamal Joshi, an advocate, said though the case was registered after the death of Deepak, but no action was initiated by the authorities.
