Expelled PU researcher appeals to VC

CHANDIGARH:A research scholar from the sociology department of Panjab University, who was expelled by the authorities for a 'fake' sexual harassment complaint against the son of the DSW (Women), has appealed to the Syndicate members to reinstate her PhD.

Chandigarh, June 23

A research scholar from the sociology department of Panjab University, who was expelled by the authorities for a 'fake' sexual harassment complaint against the son of the DSW (Women), has appealed to the Syndicate members to reinstate her PhD. The complaint was found to be false by the PUCASH and as a result she was expelled from the university and her PhD was cancelled.

She has now written a letter to the Vice Chancellor with a copy to the Syndicate and Registrar. The letter states that she is a sincere child whose only source of funding her education was the single girl child scholarship which now stands cancelled. Her Right to Education is being denied and she has now asked for revocation of the decision. She has also said the decision of the PUCASH was uncalled for. It was not their jurisdiction because the accused was not a student or employee of the PU.—TNS
