Battling all odds over the years, Fateh Mohit Whig of Vivek High School, Sector 38, has scored 93.4 per cent marks in humanities in the Class XII examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
Fateh has a congenital spinal disorder, a shunt in the brain, a heart deformity and no bladder or bowel control as he has no sensation below the waist.
Fateh, son of a gallant Army officer, Major Mohit Whig, and Tina Whig, is being nurtured and brought up by his mother after his father was killed in Jammu and Kashmir in 1997.
He has been a student at Vivek High School since Class I and it is the fighter in him which has helped him achieve this stupendous feat in Class XII.
A force behind Fateh, his mother gives credit for his success to his school. “It is the staff at the school that didn’t leave any stone unturned to help Fateh achieving success,” she said, adding that she was very happy over his performance.
