Finally, GMSH-16 admn block gets operational

After remaining locked for over nearly two months following the grand inauguration of the administrative block of the GMSH, Sector 16, Chandigarh, departments have begun shifting to the newly established administrative block.

Today, the Food Safety Department, accounts and clerical staff of the Director Health Services (DHS), UT, was shifted to the block. Process of shifting other departments was on, said a health official. Union Minister Rajnath Singh had inaugurated the new block and the auditorium of the hospital on January 30. Built at a cost of Rs 12 crore, the block has five floors and a basement. The double-storeyed auditorium consists of an administration office library, foyer and green rooms. Soon after inauguration, the block was locked for mysterious reasons.Sources said a dispute over the allotment of rooms to departments was the reason for its closure. Initially, it was decided that all offices will be shifted to the new block. However, some officials had objected to the allotment of bigger rooms to departments having lesser strength. — TNS
