FIR against 8 for failing to get tenants verified

Zirakpur, May 26 Continuing its drive against landlords who fail to comply with tenant verification rules in different parts of the town, the Zirakpur police on Friday registered eight FIRs under Section 188 (Disobedience to Order Promulgated by Public Servant) of the IPC. So far, the police have booked 20 landlords for violating norms by not conducting police verification of their tenants.  Pawan Kumar, SHO, Zirakpur, said, “It is mandatory for landlords to get verification of their tenants done.” Kumar also directed the owners to maintain records, including photographs and address proofs of the PGs, and hand over a copy of their details to the area police station within two weeks. — OC
