FIR lodged in teachers’ recruitment scam

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Police have registered an FIR in the UT teachers’ recruitment scam unearthed by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB).

The Chandigarh Police have registered an FIR in the UT teachers’ recruitment scam unearthed by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB). The investigation by the Punjab vigilance has revealed that the question paper was sold to the candidates for Rs 7 lakh a few days prior to the written test was conducted.

Sukhchain Singh Gill, SSP, UT, confirmed that an FIR had been registered against 14 persons.

Those who have been booked include kingpin Mithlesh Pandey, alias Guru, alias Master ji, Dinesh Kumar Yadav, Sub Inspector Ajay Dhankar of the Haryana Police, Bajinder Nain, Satish, Baniya, Satinder Hooda, Pardeep Kumar Lohchab, Lalit Kumar, Suresh Yadav and four candidates Anju Devi, Meenakshi, Poonam Devi and Bhawna Devi.

A case under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), 420 (cheating), 120-B (conspiracy) of the IPC and Section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, has been registered at the Sector 11 police station.

The hiring of 1,150 junior basic training (JBT) and trained graduate teacher (TGT) teachers in Chandigarh, was conducted in 2015.

The examinations were conducted by Panjab University and the question papers were printed in Delhi.

Dinesh Yadav was arrested in connection with two FIRs registered by the VB in Mohali on May 24 and 25 this year.

During his interrogation, Yadav admitted to being an accomplice of scam mastermind Mithlesh Pandey, alias Guru ji, alias Master ji, who provided the leaked question papers of various examinations to numerous candidates in Lucknow.
