Chandigarh, May 3

A foreign woman was arrested in Sector 17 for allegedly creating a ruckus in an inebriated condition. The woman also manhandled the police staff and could not even produce her passport and visa.

Police sources said during night checking, they found a foreign national creating a ruckus near Hotel Taj.

The police tried to pacify her, but she misbehaved and manhandled the police staff.

Police officials said the woman also failed to produce her passport and visa following which she was arrested. “She could not even produce any document through which her identity could be established,” said a police official.

A case under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntary causing hurt) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty) of the IPC, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act (penalty for contravention of provisions of the act) has been registered against the woman at the Sector 17 police station. The police have initiated an investigation into the case.

Not the first case

On February 10, the police had arrested a 28-year-old woman national of Uzbekistan for creating a ruckus outside a hotel in Sector 22 and assaulting a woman constable. The woman was reportedly drunk.
