Four students injured as motorcycle, scooter collide

CHANDIGARH: Four students, including three girls, were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a scooter at Sector 10 this afternoon.

Four students, including three girls, were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a scooter at Sector 10 this afternoon.

According to eyewitnesses, the Activa scooter was being driven by Saiba, a resident of Sector 23, while her friend Ekta was riding pillion. Ekta, a student of Government College, Sector 42, and Saiba, who has applied for admission at DAV College, Sector 10, were going towards the Hotel Mountview roundabout while the motorcycle rider, Jeevan, and Joyshree, who was riding pillion, both MSc students at DAV College, were heading towards the Sector 10/11 intersection when the accident took place.

The accident reportedly took place when the motorcyclist, who was on a high speed, was overtaking a car and hit the scooter coming from the opposite direction.

Nikhil Gupta, whose car was being overtaken, said the motorcyclist was riding recklessly due to which the accident took place. The car was also damaged in the accident after the scooter hit it.

All injured were taken to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, from where Jeevan was referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI).

The police were informed, who arrived at the accident spot. A case has been registered against the motorcycle rider at the Sector 3 police station.
