Further police remand for Cong leader

CHANDIGARH: Congress leader from Fatehgarh Sahib and businessman Shingara Singh, who was arrested in a Rs 14-crore property-grab case, was today sent to police remand for one more day by a local court.

Congress leader from Fatehgarh Sahib and businessman Shingara Singh, who was arrested in a Rs 14-crore property-grab case, was today sent to police remand for one more day by a local court. His three-day police remand ended today.

He has been accused of grabbing a disputed ‘kothi’ of Punjab National Bank Housing Finance Limited in Sector 27 here. On the direction of the Punjab and Haryana High Court this month, a case was registered against him.

The police, after his arrest from Daman, also impounded a car registered on the name of a private news channel owner Labh Singh Ahluwalia. The police said they would also question Ahluwalia to find out how he was associated with Shingara Singh.

The police said they had got 26 plaints against Ahluwalia and in some of them, FIRs had also been registered.
