CHANDIGARH: A 14-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze after pouring kerosene at her house in Tin Colony, Sector 52, today.

A 14-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze after pouring kerosene at her house in Tin Colony, Sector 52, today.

The victim poured kerosene on herseld when she was alone in the house. Her family members, on noticing the incident, broke open the door and rushed the victim to the hospital.

The victim’s statement was recorded in the hospital. “She did not blame anyone for taking the extreme step,” said a police official. The victim later succumbed to her injuries. The victim’s father is a labourer. —TNS
