Dera Bassi MC passes Rs36.40-crore budget

DERA BASSI: The Dera Bassi Municipal Council today passed an annual budget of Rs 36.40 crore for fiscal year 2017-18, keeping aside Rs 25.55 crore for development works, at a special meeting by MC officials here.

The Dera Bassi Municipal Council today passed an annual budget of Rs 36.40 crore for fiscal year 2017-18, keeping aside Rs 25.55 crore for development works, at a special meeting by MC officials here.

MLA NK Sharma, along with municipal councillors, including president Bhupinder Singh Saini, was present at the House meeting.

The budget was passed at the meeting chaired by MLA NK Sharma, along with Executive Officer Ranbir Singh, with the consent of all MC councillors.

The budget was passed in just 30 minutes after the meeting started.

Keeping aside the budget for development works, the civic body has approved Rs 8.65 crore on establishment, Rs 1 crore on contingency and Rs 15 lakh as miscellaneous expenditure, including cultural and other events this year.

Similarly, the Zirakpur Municipal Council today passed the budget of Rs 59 crore from which Rs 48.70 crore to be spent on various developmental works in the town, while the rest will be spent under the non-plan head.

Varinder Jain, Executive Officer at Zirakpur, in presence of MLA NK Sharma and other Municipal Councillors, passed the budget in the MC House today.

Giving details, the EO said Rs 1.2 crore had been approved for contingency and Rs 8.85 crore for establishment, including salaries of the staff, sweepers, etc. Last year, the MC had passed a budget of Rs 56 crore in the House meeting.
