The Mohali District Administration today earmarked 20 sites for the sale of crackers in the district.
Giving information, Mohali Deputy Commissioner DS Mangat said a total of 20 sites have been earmarked for the purpose.
“Strict action will be taken against those found selling crackers at unauthorised sites in the area,” said the Deputy Commissioner.
The earmarked sites include parking ground near Bassi Theatre at Phase II, open space near YPS Chowk at Phase VIII, Apni Mandi ground at Phase XI, Sohana, ground in front of Government School at Banur, ground near Government Senior Secondary School at Dera Bassi, Defence Land, Main GT Road and open ground at Lalru, Government Senior Secondary School, Handesra, Dasehra Ground at Baltana, High Street Market near VIP Road in Zirakpur, General Enclave at Pabhat, Zirakpur, Old Morinda Road and near Municipal Park at Kurali, Dasehra Ground at Kharar, Shaheed Beant Singh Stadium on Siswan Road and Singhpura Road Stadium at Kurali, Nagar Khera village, Nayagaon, and Community Centre at Kansal.
The Deputy Commissioner said the administration would check the sale of banned crackers.
“Apart from this, the seller’s age should not be less than 18. All cracker sellers have to adhere to the safety guidelines while running their stalls,” said Mangat.
The Deputy Commissioner said raids on sweet shops would also take place.
