CHANDIGARH: The MC General House meeting today decided to form a committee of councillors and officials to check the functioning of the Jaypee garbage processing plant at Daddu Majra.

The MC General House meeting today decided to form a committee of councillors and officials to check the functioning of the Jaypee garbage processing plant at Daddu Majra.

Besides, the MC also rejected to provide tipping charges for the processing of city’s garbage.

The Jaypee Group in its petition before the Punjab and Haryana High Court had submitted that the MC was not paying any tipping fee or any subsidy whereas every such plant in India was getting tipping fee.

On this petition, the HC had directed the MC to take the decision on the claim raised by Jaypee Group before November 8.

Box: MC okays solid waste segregation project in Sector 34,35

The MC House also okayed the proposal of a SAD councillor of solid waste segerataiton project in Sector 34,35. Under the proposal, Residents Welfare Associations will support the MC to segregate garbage at the household level.
