Patiala, September 23

Sanaur MLA Harinderpal Chandumajra today accused the Congress government in the state of making fake promises before the Assembly poll and now backtracking on the issue of complete farm debt waiver.

While addressing mediapersons, the MLA alleged that as per a notification issued by the government in this regard, debt up to Rs 60,000 would be waived while it would not help farmers suffering losses worth lakhs.

The Congress had promised that all farm loans, which will amount to Rs 90,000 crore, would be waived. Now, the state government was seeking help in this regard from the Centre,” he said.

The MLA added that the Congress government had failed on all fronts.
