Hallo Majra resident made 2,000 fake Aadhaar cards

CHANDIGARH: Following the arrest of a Hallo Majra resident for allegedly preparing fake Aadhaar cards, investigations have revealed that he had made around 2,000 fake cards.

Following the arrest of a Hallo Majra resident for allegedly preparing fake Aadhaar cards, investigations have revealed that he had made around 2,000 fake cards.

The Chandigarh Police had arrested Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Hallo Majra, who was running a computer institute, Extol Soft, at his house and used to prepare fake Aadhaar cards at the institute. He used to charge Rs 1,000 per card.

Sources said people who had approached the suspect for Aadhaar cards were not aware that they would be given fake Aadhaar cards.

Police sources said they would prepare a list of people who had been given fake Aadhaar cards.

DSP (Crime) Jagbir Singh said the hard disk of the computer recovered from the possession of the suspect was being examined. “More information about those who got fake Aadhaar cards will be gathered from the hard disk that has all information stored in it,” the DSP said.

The CPU, printer and scanner used to prepare the Aadhaar cards have been seized by the police. The police will inform the UIDAI office in Chandigarh regarding the fake Aadhaar cards.

Mainly slum dwellers and colony residents used to approach the suspect for preparing Aadhaar cards.
