Solve water woes

With the advancing summer, city residents have started facing a shortage of water despite the fact that the MC has been claiming to provide round-the-clock water supply this season. In many parts of the city, residents claimed that they were not getting regular water supply as per schedule and pressure was also low. Those residing on upper floors are the worst hit as water supply remains low. The problem is acute in many sectors. The MC must make efforts to solve the issue as people are feeling harassed. In summers, demand for water is more. The MC should ensure uninterrupted supply to residents. I also request people to check wastage of water.

Shift furniture market

The tin-shed furniture market in Sector 53 and 54 is a nightmare for motorists commuting between Chandigarh and Mohali. Any serious accident can happen anytime. Space along the roads on both sides of the divider is occupied by furniture items of shopkeepers and vehicles of their customers, leaving little space for the traffic. The market needs to be relocated away from roads for a smooth flow of traffic.

Fight crime with courage

Increasing crime rate is a grim issue and a major cause of worry among citizens. Crime against women and children are also on the rise despite stringent laws and political promises to nip these offences. Society needs to answer where it has gone wrong. Parents are not upbringing their children to be criminals when they grow up. Where is the problem then? The hurdle lies in old and rigorous social norms where women are considered as inferior sex and told to stay behind veil and never raise their voice. They are being condemned for what they are doing and also being paid less despite their abilities.

Children are also easy targets as they can be intimidated and lured easily. The only way to nip these offences is by fighting back with courage. Report such misdeeds and never let anybody ruin your self-esteem. Various initiatives by local residents are more worthy than the police action to curb crime incidents.
