Chandigarh, May 26
A local court on Saturday extended the remand of local Congress party leader Sunil Copra, alias Titu, and Ayushi Godhara by three days in the HCS judicial paper leak case. The police were seeking a five- day remand as they want to take Chopra to Solan where his in-laws are staying. As for Godhara, they want to take her to Hisar and Rohtak where other candidates are supposedly based. Certain documents are also to be recovered.
Three persons — Sharma and two beneficiaries Sunita and Sushila — were booked by the police in the high-profile case. A High Court committee looking into the case had recommended scrapping of the examination after prima facie finding that some candidates had access to the question paper. Chopra and Ayushi are the latest arrests in the case.
The committee had said at least two candidates, Sunita and Sushila, had the question paper. The committee had also stated that Balwinder Sharma unequivocally denied prior acquaintance with Sunita, the general category topper. — TNS
