Chandigarh: A seminar on 'Drug abuse and illicit trafficking and harmful effects of drugs in society' was organised at the Recruit Training Centre (RTC).



Chandigarh: A seminar on 'Drug abuse and illicit trafficking and harmful effects of drugs in society' was organised at the Recruit Training Centre (RTC). As many as 105 police officers attended the programme. Dr Gurwinder Pal Singh, Associate Professor, Psychiatry Department, GMCH-32, explained that narcotic drugs damage the nervous system and have adverse effects on vision, hearing and the cardiovascular system. The second session of the seminar focused upon the illicit trafficking of drugs where Rajinder Singh Awadhesh Kumar, Intelligence Officer from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Chandigarh, sensitised the participants to the procedure and precautions to be adopted while dealing with the cases related to the NDPS Act. Free Urdu classes from Monday

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh office of the Language Department of Punjab is organising Urdu classes. The programme will be conducted in collaboration with GGDSD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh. The classes will begin from July 2 and will be free of cost. The course duration will be of six months and the class timings will be from 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm at GGDSD College. Students from Chandigarh and Panchkula can take admission to the course. Interested candidates can contact assistant director, Hindi/Punjabi Cell, Civil Secretariat 2, Sector 9, Chandigarh, or can meet the Urdu teacher at the college. TNS

ICAI national conference

Chandigarh: PHRONESIS 2018, a two-day national conference of CA students, was hosted by the Chandigarh Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on June 23 and 24 at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42. The conference was inaugurated by Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore, who praised the role of CAs in nation-building. Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki was present at the concluding ceremony. Chandigarh ICAI chairman Mastan Singh Chambyal addressed around 800 future CAs. TNS
