The Mohali police have claimed to have arrested four of the six accused in the case regarding brutal attack on forest officials on Tuesday night.

The four accused have been identified as Satpreet Singh, Satvinder Singh, Jagjeet Singh and Inderjeet Singh, all in their early 20’s and residents of Seonk village. The SSP said all accused were locals and running the business of illegal mining on a small scale.

Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said: “We have recovered the tractor-trailer and i-20 car used in the crime. These vehicles were registered in the name of accused Lovepreet Singh and Amrit Singh, who are absconding.”

A naka was laid by Devinder Singh and other employees of the Forest Department near Seonk village on Monday night to check sand mining. Around 10.30 pm, they stopped a tractor-trailer coming from Seonk village. A car was following the tractor-trailer in which some “armed” persons were sitting. They attacked the forest employees at the naka, leaving them gravely injured, and fled the spot.
