Girls outshone boys in terms of overall percentage from the Panchkula region comprising Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh in the Central Board of Secondary Education Class 12 examination, the results of which were declared on Saturday.
The Panchkula region has an overall percentage of 85.66. Last year, the overall pass percentage of the region was 83.7 per cent.
In Panchkula region, Jammu and Kashmir topped with pass percentage of 95.47, followed by Himachal Pradesh (89.94), Punjab (86.33), Haryana (85.40) and Chandigarh (79.35).
In Jammu and Kashmir, 6,624 students appeared in Class 12 exams and 6,324 students were declared pass. In Himachal Pradesh, 9,628 students appeared in the exam and 8,650 cleared it.
In Punjab 62,598 students appeared in the exam and 54,040 were declared pass. In Haryana, 89,185 students appeared in the exam and 76,162 cleared it.
Chandigarh was at the bottom in the region with 79.35 pass percentage. A total of 19,717 students appeared for the exam in Chandigarh and 15,645 were declared pass.
In the entire Panchkula region, while girl students have a pass percentage of 90.66, the figure for their male counterparts is 81.85. Of the 1,87,752 lakh students who appeared in the exam from the region, 1,60,821 got through, with an overall percentage of 85.66.
As many as 81,136 girls appeared in the exam in the Panchkula region, of which 73,556 passed. The pass percentage is 90.66, tad better than last year's 89.60%.
A total of 1,06,616 boys appeared in the exam in this region, of which 87,265 got through. Their pass percentage is 81.85, which is better than last year's 79.40%.
