The main accused in the murder of sarpanch Satnam Singh, who was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Sector 38, Chandigarh, Manjit Singh, alias Bobby, a resident of Rana village under the Garhdiwala police station, has surrendered before the police.
This was stated by SP (D) Harpreet Singh Mandher at a press conference here today.
He said besides the murder case, the accused had several cases of heinous crimes lodged against him in Sonepat district of Haryana and at the Maloya police station in Chandigarh. The accused had been declared a proclaimed offender in one of the cases.
Bobby was the main accused in the broad daylight murder of Satnam Singh, sarpanch of Khurda village in Garhdiwala. The sarpanch was killed outside a gurdwara in Sector 38, Chandigarh, in April 2017.
The SP said Bobby, along with Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, son of Charan Singh of Dhahan village under the Nurpur Bedi police station in Ropar district, and Harjinder Singh, alias Akash, a resident of Nanded, Maharashtra, had shot dead Satnam Singh.
He said the Chandigarh Police would soon take Bobby to Chandigarh on a production warrant.
