Patiala, August 20
Almost a week after a girl was allegedly kidnapped, held hostage and raped repeatedly, the Patiala police have registered a case against the accused and later arrested him.
The police arrested the 23-year-old accused after receiving a complaint against him alleging kidnapping and raping a 19-year-old girl from Patiala.
The accused had allegedly kidnapped the girl from a van in which she was travelling in on August 12. As per the contents of the FIR, the victim alleged that she was kidnapped while returning home from her place of work. The accused, identified as Jatinder Singh, assaulted the van driver and forcibly took the girl on his bike.
However, the police are checking the facts as they initially believed that a girl cannot be kidnapped on the bike. The girl alleged that she was raped at a vacant plot in Patran and later the accused took the girl to his house on the same night and raped her repeatedly.
The police said the accused and the victim were acquaintances and the accused had refused to marry the girl a few months ago.
The Patran police have registered a case against the accused. He has been booked under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 365 (kidnapping and wrongful confinement), 376 (rape), 323 (voluntary causing hurt), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons), and 34 of the IPC.
