Patiala, April 25
The police arrested a man on a charge of attempting to rape a minor girl here on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Gurdeep Singh (40). As per sources, the accused runs a grocery shop. He invited the girl offering her sweets and tried to rape her.
Bahadurgarh chowki in-charge Sub-inspector Kaur Singh said, “The police have nabbed the accused, Gurdeep Singh, who tried to rape the minor girl of a nearby village. We have registered a case under Sections 376 (rape), 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Section 18 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.” — TNS
