A Sector 43 resident, who quarrelled with a policeman at a drunken driving naka, was today let off on one-year probation by Chief Judicial Magistrate Akshdeep Mahajan. He was asked to furnish a bond of Rs 50,000.
Vikram Rana was released on an undertaking that he will not repeat the offence for the next one year. He was booked under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty) of the IPC and for violating Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The incident occurred on April 18, 2013, when Rana was stopped at an anti-drunken driving naka on the road separating Sectors 42 and 43. He was found drunk by the policemen on duty. When Sub-Inspector Jagnath tried to issue him a challan, he created a ruckus at the naka and quarrelled with the SI. Following this, the policemen caught hold of him, challaned him and impounded his car.
