Chandigarh, July 1 

Manav Gupta won the State Youth U-25 Chess Championship, concluded at St Xavier's Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, on Sunday. Gupta scored 4½ points to win the championship. Meanwhile, Nagpal Tejas of Punjab Engineering College (PEC), also scored 4½ points to claim the second position, while Aditya Bedi and Shishir Lamba claimed third and fourth position, respectively with scoring four points each. 

Gupta, Tejas, Bedi and Lamba have been are selected to represent the city in the upcoming national to be held at Bhopal from August 21 to 27. The Championship was organised by Chandigarh Chess Association and a total of 33 players participated.

  • 4½ Points: Manav Gupta, Nagpal Tejas  
  • 4 Points: Aaditya Bedi, Shishir Lamba, Hritik Gupta
  • 3½ Points: Bhavya Batra, Rohan Gupta, Anmol Rattan, Yogik Khurana
  • 3 Points: Shaunak, Mukul Biswas, Anhat Singh, Arnav Kushwaha, Yuvraj Singh, Yajur Khurana
