Patiala, May 26

The Patiala Municipal Corporation issues challans to the Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Nabha Road, and Superintendent Engineer, Irrigation Department, Bara Qua, for violating the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act. A team of the district Health Department, including epidemiologist Dr Gurmanjeet Kaur and inspector Dharminder Singh, during their “dry day” drives found dengue and malaria larvae in the water coolers of these departments.

Though the Patiala Deputy Commissioner has issued instructions that all water coolers in the government departments should be cleaned weekly, the team found larvae in the coolers, following which they have issued the challans. The team said to prevent breeding of mosquitoes, such activities would be continued in government and private departments and also residential areas.
