Medical practitioner booked on charge of raping minor patient

ZIRAKPUR: The local police booked a 35-year-old medical practitioner on a charge of raping an 11-year-old patient at his workplace at Sanauli village here today.

The local police booked a 35-year-old medical practitioner on a charge of raping an 11-year-old patient at his workplace at Sanauli village here today.

The medical practitioner, Ravinder Kumar Tiwari, runs a clinic in the village.

Inspector Deepinder Singh, SHO of the Zirakpur police station, said the victim had gone to the clinic for some treatment two days ago along with her elder sister. “The accused asked her sister to send the girl alone on Sunday for some tests to his clinic, where he committed the crime,” said the inspector.

The victim narrated the incident to her sister after reaching home.

The SHO said the accused was arrested earlier also in a case of harassing another girl around three months ago, but the case was resolved through a compromise. “We have registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC against Tiwari,” said the SHO.
