Zirakpur: A resident of Maya Garden City, Zirakpur, succumbed to his injuries at the PGI here on Thursday.



Zirakpur: A resident of Maya Garden City, Zirakpur, succumbed to his injuries at the PGI here on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Ramveer. According to the police, he met with an accident on October 13. He, along with his son, was going towards DMart, a supermarket, on a bike. When they reached near the Magnesia Maya Garden office, their bike was hit by a car from the rear following which they sustained injuries. Ramveer was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh. He was later shifted to the PGI. The police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver. OC

Mobile phones stolen 

Zirakpur: Thieves struck at a mobile shop on the Zirakpur-Ambala road and decamped with mobile phones and other accessories on the night intervening October 18 and 19. The thieves entered the shop after drilling a hole through its wall. The owner of the shop noticed it on Thursday morning. The thieves damaged CCTV cameras. The Zirakpur police was informed about the incident. The police have initiated investigation into the case OC 

Theft at hardware shop

Chandigarh: A Mani Majra resident reported a theft of Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from his shop on Wednesday night. Satish Kumar told the police that his shop was on the ground floor while he lived on the first floor of his house. He woke up on Thursday morning to find that the cash from the shop was missing. No other item from the hardware shop was stolen. The local police have registered a case under Sections 380 and 454 of the Indian Penal Code and have launched investigation into the incident. TNS

Four booked for kidnapping 

Mohali: The Sohana police have booked four persons for kidnapping Shadab Alam, a scrap dealer. The accused in the case are Manjit Singh, alias Monu; Sonu and two unknown persons. The case was registered on the complaint of Alam’s wife Sana. The scrap dealer’s wife alleged that she, along with her husband, was cleaning their house here when the accused came there in a car and beat them up. They bundled her husband into the car. Later, they allegedly left him near the airport road. As per the police, the case related to some financial dispute. Investigation is on into the case,” said the police. TNS   

Science exhibition

Patiala: The British Co-Ed High School, Patiala, organised a science exhibition. Students from Classes IV to VIII presented both working as well as static models in four different groups of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and EVS. The models were prepared with great attention to detail. The exhibition was judged by Founder Principal Rosa Kucharskyj. A few models like 'The Drone' by Saksham Arora of Class X, 'Crane' by Harshit Goel of Class VII and a model on 'The Digestive System' made from waste material by Srishti of Class V were the highlight of the exhibition.
