Mohali admn to review decision

MOHALI:The Mohali administration, which has booked the management of six private schools for not adhering to its recent directions on the change of school timings following smog and bad weather, has decided to review its decision.

Mohali, November 17

The Mohali administration, which has booked the management of six private schools for not adhering to its recent directions on the change of school timings following smog and bad weather, has decided to review its decision.

Reason: The schools in question claimed that they had received the orders a day after due to which they failed to obey the directions.

Notably, the Mohali DC had issued orders of change in timings of all schools on November 13. On November 14, the local police was directed to register cases under Section 188 of the IPC as they did not comply with the orders.

Today, Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra said the decision was being reviewed. “A delegation from the schools, which met Additional Deputy Commissioner Charandev Singh Mann, told us that they received the order a day after. So, we are reviewing our decision and the opinion of the DA (Legal) is also being sought,” said Sapra.

Advocate Ramdeep Partap Singh, who accompanied the delegation as their counsel, said all schools in question received the directions after 2 pm on November 14. “As the directions were received late, the managements of the schools could not comply with these.” he said. The Deputy Commissioner added that an inquiry would also be conducted in connection with the late delivery of orders.

The schools that were booked in this connection are The Millennium School, Phase V, Learning Paths School, Sector 67, Manav Mangal Smart School, Phase X, Shishu Niketan Public School, Phase IV, Shastri Model School, Phase I, and Paragon Senior Secondary School, Sector 69. — TNS
