Mohali, July 1
The Mohali police, who had recently come under flak for their “insensitivity” towards uploading data of missing children on the national portal, “trackchild”, today started a special drive to locate missing children under opertaion “Muskan”.
The district police, in association with the Mohali administration, have formed a special team, which would be on the job for a month to locate missing children, if any, in the district.
Talking to Chandigarh Tribune, Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said they started the special drive from the Kurali area where the special team approached an NGO to get details of all children who had been given shelter there.
“At least 14 trained police officials from each police station in the district have been deputed for the purpose. Whenever the special team visits an area under the jurisdiction of any of the 14 police stations, our officials will assist it,” said the SSP.
He said the SHOs of all police stations had been given instructions to check their areas to locate children who had no parents or guardians and note down the entire details in a register.
“We gave the officials special training before the start of ‘Muskan’,” the SSP said.
