More trouble is in store for the Lok Priya Buildwell Private Limited property on which the JW Marriott hotel has been built in Sector 35 as the local Municipal Corporation has served a commercial property tax notice of Rs 15.58 lakh on it.
Officials said the amount had been lying pending for the past few years and it had now been calculated at Rs 15,58,324. MC Additional Commissioner Anil Kumar Garg said, “We have served a commercial property tax notice on them to make the payment within a month.”
The firm is already involved in a litigation after it failed to pay an amount of nearly Rs 8 crore as ground rent to the corporation. The MC had to order the cancellation of the lease of the company for the land on which the hotel is running. The matter had gone to the court of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South. Garg said of the total ground rent, the firm had now paid Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 2.5 crore was to be paid by March 31. MC sources said Lok Priya Buildwell Private Limited had been facing this case since 2012. The annual lease money for the place was Rs 2.5 crore. However, the firm did not pay the amount for the past few years due to which it rose to nearly Rs 8 crore due to penalties. The PGI and the Railways are among the major defaulters.
