Mother, girl killed in road mishap

MOHALI: A mother and daughter were killed in an accident near Sarseeni village on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway in the wee hours.

A mother and daughter were killed in an accident near Sarseeni village on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway in the wee hours.

According to reports, Rinku Kumar (32), a resident of Trivedi Camp, Dera Bassi, was returning home in an Alto car with members of his family after attending a wedding at Shahabad. A Swift Dzire car coming from behind reportedly hit the Alto, which fell into a ditch.

Rinku Kumar’s wife, Kanchan, their daughter, Simran, brother Yogesh Kumar, his wife Sanya and daughter Tanya were travelling in the car. All of them were injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital.

While Kanchan and Simran were declared dead on arrival at the hospital, Tanya is still undergoing treatment. The police have registered a case against an unidentified driver.
