Coming to the rescue of a Sangrur girl, who was allegedly implicated in a theft case by her employees in Doha after she expressed her desire to return to India, Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi’s efforts have finally bore fruit as Inderjeet Kaur has finally returned to her native village Bhila.

Inderjeet Kaur informed that she had gone to Doha in 2014 with the help of an agent on a tourist visa. However, she was convinced that she could work there and she started working as a domestic help with a Muslim family.

“Initially, things were good, but slowly and gradually I started missing home. Whenever I would talk about returning to India, my employees would ignore the issue. However, after two and a half years, I told them that I want to go back at any cost. They not only kept my salaries for two months, but also filed a false theft complaint against me, following which I had to spend one day in jail,” she said.

Inderjeet informed that she then spoke to her brother-in-law back in India, who got in touch with Dr Gandhi for my help. Dr Gandhi then sought help from the External Affairs Ministry and helped her in returning to India.

She said she was kept in the Indian embassy in Doha for about one month and after clearing all charges against her and completing all formalities, she was sent back. She said she could not thank Dr Gandhi enough who had given her second life.

Meanwhile, Dr Gandhi gave the credit of her return to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who took prompt action and ensured her safe return. He informed that as soon as he sought help from Swaraj, she got in touch with the Doha authorities and ensured that Inderjeet was freed from all false allegations and brought back. She even got her salary released from her employees and paid for her return. He informed that Swaraj kept him in loop all this while and he was highly grateful to her.
