Discussions, debates, dialogues and a lot more have been planned for the fourth consecutive Model United Nations (MUN) conference being hosted by Strawberry Fields High School under the aegis of the Durga Das Foundation in Chandigarh.

The conference will start from July 27. The four-day event is modelled around the United Nations and brings to life many of focus areas that are currently being deliberated by the UN member states across the world.

Around 400 students from leading schools in the country will take part in more than eight sessions during the MUN conference that will cover topics related to governance, climate change, inclusion and participation of the marginalised, innovation in industry, corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship, livelihood and gender amongst others.

On July 27, Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana, will address the gathering followed by a classical recital by Rahul Sharma, son of santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.

On the second day of the Model United Nations conference, there will be a discussion by a panel, including ex-Indian Ambassador KC Singh, cricketer Kapil Dev, vocalist Sonam Kalra, former Army Chief VP Malik and social entrepreneur Jyotirmoy Chatterji. They will deliberate on the theme, “How Does Intellectual Dishonesty Impact Our Lives?”.

On July 29, there will be a musical soirée by a band, the Copy Cats. The closing ceremony of the MUN conference will be held in the presence of Indian hockey team captain Sardar Singh.

He will also give awards to the winners of the conference during the concluding ceremony.

According to Atul Khanna, Director, Durga Das Foundation, “It is heartening to see students working tirelessly to make the event a grand success. The energy they bring through their analysis and suggestions gives hope, for they will be the change that will shape our tomorrow.”
