Murder accused held in city

CHANDIGARH:Two persons wanted by the Rajasthan police in a murder case have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police.

Two persons wanted by the Rajasthan police in a murder case have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police.

The accused had murdered a 53-year-old woman at Kishangarh in Ajmer district.

The accused have been identified as Dharampal and Sunil Kumar, both natives of Rajasthan. The duo was arrested from near Attawa Chowk, Sector 42.

The police have recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash, gold jewellery weighing around 25 tola and two kg silver ornaments from the accused that were robbed from the victim’s house.

Chilli powder and face mask have also been recovered from the accused.

The police said the duo, when interrogated, revealed that they had murdered the woman, Uma Pandey. The victim’s servant was also involved in the murder.

While the servant fled to some other state, the remaining two accused came to Chandigarh. Both accused were produced before the Duty Magistrate today. They were later sent to judicial custody. — TNS
