A day after five members of a family were found dead at their residence in Rally village, the mystery of the case today deepened with the postmortem examination of two victims — Neeraj and his wife, Raj Kumari — revealing serious injury marks.

Yesterday, Neeraj was found hanging from the ceiling fan, while his wife and three minor daughters were found dead.

“During the postmortem examination of Raj Kumari, vaginal injuries were found, whereas injury inflicted with a blunt weapon was found on Neeraj’s head. It appears that somebody tried using a blunt weapon on Raj Kumari’s private parts,” said Dr Sunil Gambhir.

He added, “It was found that Raj Kumari was strangulated with two loops of a rope indicating that the person wanted to be doubly sure that she was dead. There are double ligature marks on her neck.”

The doctor also said that she died in the morning hours.

“Neeraj’s death has taken place due to hanging, but an injury mark on his head raises doubt. The possibility of Neeraj being drunk cannot be ruled out. We have taken his viscera to confirm whether he was drunk or not” added the doctor.

The postmortem of the three minor girls – Navita (5), Shivani (2) and Ananya (seven months) was conducted yesterday itself which revealed that they were smothered with a cloth.

Police officials said that they were working on several theories as the postmortem examination revealed injury marks. They are also suspecting that the murder may have been committed in a fit of rage.

We are probing the family members,” said Station House Officer of the Sector 5 police station Inspector Lalit Kumar.

The police yesterday had lodged a case of murder against Neeraj (30) who was working as a peon in a private company at Sector 11. The police suspected that before committing suicide, Neeraj strangulated his wife and three daughters.

Neeraj’s brother Pintu is also being probed by the police as it was Pintu who had knocked the door of the couple at 4 am to drink water.
