Naib tehsildar’s powers cut short

Following receipt of several complaints against the naib tehsildar of the Majri Block here, the DC today curtailed the revenue officer’s certain powers related to registration of properties and court.

In an order issued in this regard, DC Gurpreet Kaur Sapra withdrew the property registration and court powers of naib tehsildar Varinderpal Singh Dhoot under Section 68 of the Punjab Registration Act. 

“Now, the powers in question have been entrusted with Kharar naib tehsildar Harinderjit Singh. The other routine works will be carried out by Dhoot only,” said Sapra, adding that it was a step towards a clean and transparent administration. She said her office had been receiving complaints against Dhoot. “An inquiry is being conducted,” she added. — TNS
