Panchkula, February 22

A day after the carjacking incident in Panchkula, the police have failed to make any headway in the case.

The SHO of the Sector 5 police station, Karamvir, said they were working on some leads, but there was nothing concrete to reveal at this stage of the investigation.

Victim Anil Kumar’s Swift Dzire car was taken away at gunpoint on the road separating Sector 5 and 6 here on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. The incident had taken place when Anil Kumar, a chef at a Morni-based hotel, was on the way to his home in Sector 41, Chandigarh.

Question mark over patrolling

The incident has raised questions over police patrolling in the city. Besides, non-functional street lights are also helping criminals in committing crime. Sameer Sethi, a resident of Sector 16, said crime incidents in Panchkula had shaken the belief of the public in the police functioning.
