Chandigarh, May 3

While the Chandigarh Police are clueless even 48 hours after the biggest-ever heist of Rs 14 crore was reported from a jewellery store in Sector 17, the Delhi Police have joined the investigation into the daylight robbery at gunpoint.

A team of the Delhi Police reached Chandigarh and started the probe. The team today visited the jewellery store in Sector 17. While sources said a senior UT police officer had asked the Delhi Police to visit the city and probe the matter, the UT police denied it. “The team must have come to the city on its own and might have some leads in the case as similar robbery incidents were reported from Delhi,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, sources said the Delhi Police were analysing the dump data as they had better technology.

Various investigating teams constituted by the UT police to crack the case are desperately trying to look for some lead. Police teams, including various SHOs, visited the jewellery store for the third day today and also went to hotels in Sector 17 to check whether the robbers had stayed there a night before the incident.
