No vulgar music at Ramlila, organisers told

CHANDIGARH: As the Ramlila is all set to be staged at 51 places across the city from September 20, the UT police have given a set of instructions to the organisers, which also mentions that the no vulgar music should be played at the Ramlila functions.

As the Ramlila is all set to be staged at 51 places across the city from September 20, the UT police have given a set of instructions to the organisers, which also mentions that the no vulgar music should be played at the Ramlila functions. The organisers have also been asked to ensure the safety of people visiting the venues by deputing volunteers to keep vigil.

The set of instructions, which has been sent to the organisers through area police stations, mentions that vulgar and demeaning songs should not be played at the venue.

UT SSP Jagdale Nilambari Vijay said since women and children went to watch Ramlila in large numbers, the police had instructed the organisers to restrict themselves from playing vulgar music during the shows.

The SSP said the organisers had also been instructed to stick to the script that did not hurt the religious sentiments of people.

The police have also asked the Ramlila organisers to depute volunteers to keep an eye on suspicious people at the venue. “Although police personnel will be present at all venues, assistance from the organisers will also be helpful,” the SSP said. 

The organisers have also been asked to ensure that no unwanted person is allowed to reach near the stage.

The police official said Ramlila, which was held across the city, attracted audience not only from Chandigarh but also from the neighboring Mohali and Panchkula due to which security was a major issue.

The organisers have also been asked to ensure adequate parking space for the visitors.
