Disaster preparedness training marks Day 4

The ongoing seven-day second annual NSS camp at Panjab University (PU) witnessed a plethora of informative activities on the fourth day, including the launch of Accessible India Campaign App, disaster preparedness training, session on hand hygiene and exhibition showcasing biodiversity.

The day began with the launch of Accessibility India Campaign App by NSS programme coordinator Dr Navdeep Sharma along with NSS programme officers Prof Sanjeev Gautam, Dr Manjushree, Dr Anupreet Mavi, Dr Amrinder Singh and Dr Upneet Kaur Mangat.

The App will enable persons with disabilities to gain access to equal opportunities and participate fully in all aspects of life. NSS volunteer Pardeep Kumari also apprised the participants regarding the utility of App and how it could help in creating a barrier-free environment for differently abled.

The NSS volunteers were also trained in disaster preparedness techniques during a workshop led by Sanjeev Kohli, In-charge, Disaster Management Team, UT, Chandigarh.

This was followed by a training session on hand hygiene led by Dr Manjushree in which the NSS volunteers were told about the hand-washing techniques as mandated by the WHO. During the post-lunch session, a photo exhibition on biodiversity was showcased by the Society of Natural Biodiversity Society. — TNS
