“What time will the moon be seen on Karva Chauth tomorrow? Will the sky be clear or cloudy?” The Met Department helpline was flooded with these two queries from women since morning today.

The department received over 400 calls from women from the tricity and the region, who were eager to know when the moon would be seen in their area. They were also anxious to know whether the sky would be clear so that they can seen the moon and break their fast, observed for the well-being of the husband. Met Director Surinder Pal Singh said in the past, the department used to receive 50 to 100 such calls on the eve of Karwa Chauth, but this time the number was very high.

He cited people’s increasing trust in the Met predictions as the reason for the large number of calls received on the helpline. Restaurants and hotels were also flooded with calls for booking tables for dinner tomorrow. A majority of fine dine restaurants are booked for Karva Chauth dinner. To attract women, some restaurants are offering special Karva Chauth meals.
