A Hyundai car, stolen from Sector 37 on August 27 regarding which the area police were informed the next day, was traced today by the owner and her relative from the same sector even as the police remained clueless, exposing the tall claims made by them regarding intensive patrolling in the area.

The complainant in the case, Harleen Gill, a native of Yamunanagar who stays as a paying guest in Sector 37 and is a student of Panjab University, had parked her car near the house on Saturday night. The next evening, she came to know that her car had been stolen.

Kaur informed the police following which an FIR was registered at the Sector 39 police station against unknown person(s).

However, the police paid little heed to locate the car. The beat staff, who are given the registration numbers of vehicles stolen from areas under the jurisdiction of the police station, also failed to locate the car.

The car owner and her relative tried to locate the car and spotted it parked near the government school in Sector 37 this afternoon.

The police were informed following which the car was towed away to the Sector 39 police station.

Inspector Dilsher Chandel, SHO of the Sector 39 police station, said the car was found abandoned in Sector 37 by the owner. Sources said a bag and some clothes kept in the car were stolen.
