To improve the condition of public toilets in Panchkula, the Municipal Corporation has outsourced 28 public toilet blocks to Sulabh International for their maintenance.
The MC will pay Rs 15,000 per month per toilet block for the maintenance of toilet blocks. The company will have to repair any major fault within 48 hours. Otherwise, the Municipal Corporation will impose a penalty of Rs 1,000 per day on the company. No advertisement will be displayed by the company on these toilet blocks.
Panchkula MC Commissioner Rajesh Jogpal said there were 47 toilet blocks under the civic body. Presently, the agreement had been signed between the civic body and Sulabh International for 28 public toilet blocks.
The company will also deploy its staff on these toilets. For the first six months, no user charges will be charged from the public. Even after six months, the company will not charge from poor people, who will be issued a card by the MC, he clarified.
No advertisement to be displayed

MC plans feedback from people
The Panchkula Municipal Corporation is even planning to take feedback from people on these toilets after they will use the same. A senior MC official said they were also working on these lines so that people could give them their feedback.
Weekly report on Maintenance
A team of the senior MC officials will regularly inspect these toilets. A report on the maintenance of these toilets will be sent to him directly on a weekly basis, Panchkula MC Commissioner Rajesh Jogpal said.
