Chandigarh, April 2
The PGI OPD and Emergency witnessed a relatively low turnout due to the bandh call by the Dalit community.
Last Monday, as many as 10,700 patients had arrived at the PGI OPD, while 8,634 patients had reached the medical institute for treatment today. Many patients arrived in private vehicles as bus and train services remained interrupted due to protest.
Many OPD blocks, which used to remain chock-a-block with patients, received empty chairs. Even the Emergency received a low turnout of patients. Earlier, the Safai Karamchari Union of the PGI also held a protest for two hours in the hospital.
The patient turnout at the GMCH-32 and GMCH-16 also remained low as compared to routine days. — TNS
