Patiala, May 24

The Patiala Urban Planning and Development Authority (PDA) will conduct e-auctions for various types of properties, including residential and commercial, in the district here. Properties would be available for bidding till May 30. The development authority has been conducting e-auctions since September 2017. The e-auction is being conducted for the fifth time.

The authority has put up 82 auctions for Amritsar, Patiala, Bathinda, Ludhiana and Jalandhar. Of these 22 are in Patiala district. The properties offered included a group housing chunk site, a hospital site, commercial sites and residential plots.

Intending bidders are required to deposit eligibility fee online in advance through the e-auction portal. Those bidding for residential plots have to deposit Rs 2 lakh, while those bidding for booths and shops have to deposit Rs 1 lakh, two per cent of the reserved price for SCO and SCF and chunk sites as eligibility fee.

For 82 auctions, the website has witnessed 2,062 bidders till now, while the officials are expecting the numbers to rise near the closing dates.

Anuprita Johal at the PDA estate office said, “We have conducted four successful e-auctions for various sites and properties in the past. E-auctions are meant to obviate any kind of influences on the bidding process from anywhere. Also, we have kept the process and system transparent and provided all the required information available on the website.”

PDA Additional Chief Administrator Harpreet Singh Sudan said, “E-auctions are a transparent way of conducting auctions. The revival of the market and the genuine buyer coming out is visible in our auctions. Initially, we faced some difficulties because it was a new technology. But now, people are registering on our website and we are hopeful of doing good business.”
