Performance of government schools dips

CHANDIGARH:The government schools have put up a poor show as pass percentage for the CBSE Class XII exams dipped to 73.63 per cent from 74.72 per cent last year. In 2016, the pass percentage was 68.31.

The government schools have put up a poor show as pass percentage for the CBSE Class XII exams dipped to 73.63 per cent from 74.72 per cent last year. In 2016, the pass percentage was 68.31. 

A total of 11,280 students of 40 schools appeared, but 2,975 students couldn’t pass the exams.

Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 16, topped the government schools with 98.76 pass percentage. It is followed by GMSSS, Mani Majra Housing Complex (MHC), with 98.71 pass percentage and GMSSS, Sector 19, with 94.27 per cent students passing the exams.

Chandigarh DEO Anujit Kaur said: “This year, our performance has dipped by more than 1 per cent due to the shortage of principals. But we need to continue to work hard.”
