Post Graduate Government College (PGGC), Sector 11, was established in 1953 and has been a premier institute in the region with a status of heritage college. The college campus is spread over 43.8 acres. The college has been accredited with Grade A (3.40 CGPA) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore. The college claims to have a paperless and cash-less campus.

The college admits students to 17 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has 24 departments. 

The infrastructure includes 57 classrooms, including 23 smart classrooms, two seminar halls, 41 laboratories. This year, the college is going to start three postgraduate courses—MCom, MSc (Zoology) and MSc (Biotechnology)—subject to university’s approval, in addition to nine postgraduate courses in science, arts and commerce.

It is the only government college in the North India which offers four years undergraduate programme in physical education (BPed) and two years postgraduate programme (MPed). The college has a research centre in physical education which offers MPhil and PhD programmes.

The physical education department has a vast ground, infrastructure equipped with latest equipments, and facilities which includes a swimming pool, a multi-purpose gymnasium hall, a basket ball court, 400m cinder track, football and hockey field, handball court along with a physiotherapy centre.

The college library is automated and air-conditioned. It has 1,12,700 books, 6,000 e-journals, 30 lakh e-books and 2,000 rare books. Two per kins braillers and talking job software are available for visually-challenged students. The college also has four units of the NSS and three wings of the NCC.

The college has a recreational centre for students which has been sponsored and furnished by the College Alumni Association. Alumni of 1973-76 batch of BCom and a few family members of former professors of the college have initiated to introduce merit-cum-means scholarships for the students of the college.
