PhD student among two girls teased

CHANDIGARH: Two cases of eve-teasing, including one with a PhD student, was reported in the city. Sources said a girl pursuing PhD from the PGI was eve-teased outside the PGI gate.

Two cases of eve-teasing, including one with a PhD student, was reported in the city.

Sources said a girl pursuing PhD from the PGI was eve-teased outside the PGI gate. The victim objected to it after which the accused allegedly tried to burn her with a cigarette. The victim raised an alarm following which people gathered at the spot and informed the police.

The police arrested the accused, identified as Vikram, a resident of Jind in Haryana. A case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused at the Sector 11 police station.

In another case, a girl was eve-teased and harassed by a person identified as Jugnu, a resident of Mani Majra. The victim, who is a nurse, was going to meet a doctor when the accused harassed her. A case against the accused has been registered at the Mani Majra police station and an investigation has been initiated in this regard. At present, the accused is absconding.

One accused held

Two cases of eve-teasing were reported in the city. In the first case, the police have arrested the accused, identified as Vikram, a resident of Jind in Haryana. Meanwhile, in the other case, the accused, identified as Jugnu, who is a resident of Mani Majra, is absconding.
